George helps Bailey through labor

She's the Nazi, as called by the interns in their first year. Bailey is driven, sharp toungued and has the difficult task of keeping Meredith and her friends in check. I see her as a tough mother figure for the cast. However, we know Bailey, even though she's a strong woman, is still human. When she was pregnant during the second season, she broke down and refused to give birth without her husband, endangering her life and her baby's in the process. Her son, William George Bailey (nicknamed Tuck) was born and she named him in honour of George who helped her through labour.

Eventually, she becomes chief resident after covering for Callie Torres, who was the original chief resident but failed to live up to expectations. The Chief has said many times that she will become Chief of Surgery and I'm still waiting for that to happen. She would make a better cheif than either Derek or Hunt, in my opinion. During the series, she splits with her husband over the fact that he believes that she places her job before their family. For awhile she dated Ben, an anestegiologist but broke up with him after the shooting fiasco. She then dated Eli, a male nurse, who I never liked for her, he was too rude and harsh while Bailey needed someone more sympathetic. Ben is great with Tuck while Eli, I felt, wasn't as serious about getting into a real and lasting relationship with Bailey. Thankfully, she's now back with Ben and in the episode "Hope for the Hopeless", she finally agrees to move in with him. Good riddence Eli !
